Having exported chaos, drama, tragedy and democracy before most nations were staying up late enough to want souvlaki, Greece boasts an unrivalled legacy. But don't expect a visit there to be a sober study of the ancient world - the Greek propensity for partying dates back to Dionysus.
From smoggy Athens to blindingly bright islands, ancient fragments abound - the belly button of the cosmos at Delphi, fallen columns galore on the sacred island of Delos, frescoed Minoan palaces on Crete and even, quite possibly, the remnants of Atlantis at Santorini.

ATHENS Tours, Travel and Activities
Redolent with mythology, smeared with grime, Athens is an affable city enlivened by outdoor cafes, pedestrian streets, parks, gardens and urban eccentrics. If you get into the Athenian mindset, you might not even notice the layer of nefos (smog) overhead.
The city may look like a concrete jungle, but beyond this off-putting veneer is a kind of dilapidated charm. Almost every house and apartment has a balcony bulging with geraniums, and many of the city's streets and squares are fringed with orange trees.

CORFU Tours, Travel and Activities
Corfu (Kerkyra) is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea. It lies off the coast of Albania, from which it is separated by straits varying in length from 3 to 23 km (2 to 15 mi), including one near Butrint and a longer one west of Thesprotia.
The principal town of the island is also named Corfu, or Kerkyra in Greek. Corfu is home to the Ionian University. The island is steeped in history and it is perennially connected to the history of Greece starting from Greek mythology.

CRETE Tours, Travel and Activities
According to ancient Greek mythology Zeus, father of the Olympian Gods, was born on Crete and raised in the island's caves. And, of course, you'll want to visit the Palace of Knossos, linked to the myth of Theseaus and the Minotaur, and the centre of rule for the ancient and mysterious Minoan Civilization that ruled the Aegean thousands of years ago.
If you're looking for peace and quiet, fascinating archaeological sites, majestic mountains, varied and spectacular scenery, quiet sandy beaches, tiny coves, and traditional mountain villages, it can still be found outside the larger tourist resort towns of Crete.

GREECE: MOUSAKA AND BOUZOUKI
Eating out is a serious part of Athenian culture, as emphasized by the fresh local produce, the creative takes on traditional dishes like horiatiki salata (country salad) and mousaka (eggplant with minced meat and bechamel sauce), and the proliferation of new restaurants.
Athens has enough venues to satisfy most entertainment needs although most clubs don't crank up until after midnight. On offer are Greek disco, tsifteteli (dance tunes), bouzouki (B-grade crooner joints), laika (popular music), rebetika (blues) and eclectic entekna ('artistic' music).
