Malaysia is one of the most pleasant, hassle-free countries to visit in southeast Asia. It's buoyant and wealthy, and has moved towards a pluralist culture based on a vibrant and interesting fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures and customs.
Most visitors to Malaysia stick to the insane headlong rush of Kuala Lumpur, the colonially soothing Cameron Highlands Hill Station or the hedonistic torpor of Langkawi. However, East Malaysia, on Sabah and Sarawak, offers spectacular wildlife, longhouses and the awe-inspiring Mt Kinabalu.

Kuala Lumpur is an Asian tiger that roars: in almost 150 years, it has grown from nothing to a modern, bustling city of almost two million people.
Kuala Lumpur is a modern Asian city of gleaming skyscrapers, but it retains much of the local color that has been wiped out in other Asian boom-cities. It has plenty of colonial buildings in its center, a vibrant Chinatown with street vendors and night markets, and a bustling Little India.

LANGKAWI Tours, Travel and Activities
The 104 islands of the Langkawi group are 18.6mi (30km) off the coast from Kuala Perlis, at the northern end of Peninsular Malaysia bordering Thailand. Since Langkawi was declared a duty-free zone in 1986, the island has been heavily promoted as one of the country's premier tourist destinations.
Since then luxury hotels have sprung up around secluded bays and numerous shopping complexes have appeared in the main town, Kuah. Away from the built-up areas Langkawi is still a rural Malay island of small villages, rice paddies, water buffalo and natural beauty.

PENANG Tours, Travel and Activities
Penang, affectionately known as the Pearl of the Orient, is one of the best-known and most-visited corners of Malaysia. Its main center, Georgetown, attracts the most tourists with its impressive stock of colonial architecture, temples and museums, lively Chinese culture, great shopping and even better food.
But there are many attractions elsewhere on the island, including the beaches on the northern coast, charming Penang Hill with its funicular and colonial hill station, and the amazing Kek Lok Si Temple - the largest Buddhist shrine in the country.

The huge Batu Caves are among Kuala Lumpur's best-known tourist attractions. The main cave, a vast open space known as the Temple Cave, is reached by a 272-step climb. Beyond the stairs is the main temple.
